37ème edition d’ARCOMadrid : The Future is now !

C’est aujourd’hui qu’est inauguré l’ARCOMadrid, sans doute l’un des plus grands événements artistiques de la scène internationale. Notre responsable de rubrique TrendArt, Marie de la Fresnaye, est en direct de Madrid cette semaine, et partagera avec nous ses impressions et ses coups de cœur.

Aujourd’hui, ARCOmadrid est l’un des plus grands événements artistiques sur la scène internationale et une plate-forme leader pour la scène sud-américaine.
L’intérêt international qu’ARCOmadrid suscite à chaque nouvelle édition représente une contribution importante pour l’image de Madrid et consolide sa position en tant que l’un des pôles culturels et artistiques les plus dynamiques du monde.

L’édition 2018 s’ouvre sur un concept, le «futur», point de départ de la recherche, et lieu de découverte de nouveaux talents. En plus de ce programme innovant, ARCOmadrid aura à nouveau un programme général, ainsi que ses sections organisées «Dialogues» et «Ouverture», comprenant une foire avec une sélection de plus de 200 galeries de 29 pays, mis en place par l’Organisation et les conservateurs de chaque programme.

« Ce qui va se passer n’est pas » l’avenir « , mais ce que nous allons faire » voila le but des conservateurs Chus Martínez, Elise Lammer et Rosa Lleó avec leur sélection de galeries. ARCOmadrid 2018 devient un espace qui le permet. Nous imaginons, produisons et proposons une vision de la complexité qui nous attend. En présentant une série d’artistes, en même temps qu’une publication et une conférence, nous parlerons d’un futur sans futurologie, dans un exercice d’essai pour approcher ce qui nourrit l’art et la société aujourd’hui.

#Dialogues

Dialogues, sous le commissariat de María de Corral, Lorena Martínez de Corral et Catalina Lozano, consiste en une sélection de 14 galeries. Chacune présentera un ou deux artistes qui ont produit un projet spécialement pour la foire

#Opening

The Opening section, sous le commissariat de Stefanie Hessler et Ilaria Gianni, comprend 19 galeries dans une perspective générationalle et géographique plurielle.

En complément du Programme Général: 3 sections : #the future, #dialogues and #opening, you will find Institutional projects and Arco Cultural spaces.

#Awards

6ème Audemars Piguet Award: l’artiste Belén Uriel est la lauréate de l’édition 2018. Son travail, En Dandanah, représentée par la galerie Lisbon gallery Madragoa, sera exposée dans la section Audemars Piguet section de la foire.

11ème Illy SustainArt Award: soutient le projet d’un artiste provenant d’un pays producteur de cafés. Le jury, présidé par les curateurs Adriano Pedrosa et María Inés Rodríguez et du directeur artistique d’illycaffè art Carlo Bach, remettra un prix de 15,000 euros au lauréat.

2ème Cervezas Alhambra Award for Emerging Art: récompense une artiste espagnol qui cree un projet spécial dans l’esprit et les valeur de la marque. Les cinq finalistes sont: Marta Fernández Calvo, Gloria Martín, Carlos Monleón, Guillermo Mora et Kiko Pérez.

13ème Beep Award for Electronic Art: assure le soutien et la promotion de la recherche et de la production d’oeuvres d’art liées aux nouvelles technologies. le lauréat sera annoncé lors de la foire ARCOmadrid 2018.

3ème Solán de Cabras Art Award: rendra hommage à un artiste présent à l’ARCO pour son travail et sa carrière dans le domaine du développement durable.

2éme ART Situacions Award ARCOmadrid 2018: 15 000 euros seront attribués à l’un des artistes participant à la foire. Le but de réaffirmer l’engagement de la foire envers l’art émergent espagnol.

Catalina d’Anglade Prize: le designer décernera un prix à un artiste du salon pour la réalisation d’un objet d’art.

Autres Prix

Le nouveau Prix ARCO de la Fondation Han Nefkens sera décerné pour la production d’une vidéo d’un artiste péruvien qui sera présentée à Madrid et à Lima en 2019.

La société Clorofila Digital produira un fond d’écran conçu par l’artiste pour la zone ARCOlunch afin de soutenir les artistes dans la zone de production de chlorophylle . Organisé par Iván López Munuera.

De plus, sur le plan institutionnel, la Communauté de Madrid décerne le 15e Prix ARCO / Comunidad de Madrid pour les jeunes artistes, qui récompense le travail, la créativité et le talent d’artistes de moins de 40 ans.

Today, ARCOmadrid is one of the biggest art events on the international scene and leading platform to south american scene. The international interest ARCOmadrid sparks with each new edition represents an important contribution to Madrid’s image and to its consolidation as one of the world’s most dynamic cultural and artistic hubs.

The essence of the 2018 edtition will be its openness to a concept, #The Future’, as the starting point for research, alongside quality content and the fair’s solid reputation as a place for discovering new talents. In addition to this innovative programme, ARCOmadrid will once again have a General Programme, as well as its curated sections ‘Dialogues’ and ‘Opening’, comprising a Fair with a selection of more than 200 galleries and 29 countries, set up by the Organising Committee and the curators of each programme.

“What is going to happen is not « the future », but what we are going to do” the aim of the curators Chus Martínez, Elise Lammer y Rosa Lleó in their galleries selection, it will be that ARCOmadrid 2018 become a space that allows us to imagine, produce and propose a vision of the complexity that awaits us.
By presenting a series of artists, together with a publication and a conference, we will talk about a future without futurology in a tentative exercise to approach what feeds art and society today.

#Dialogues

Dialogues, curated by María de Corral, Lorena Martínez de Corral and Catalina Lozano, will consist of a selection of 14 galleries, each of which includes just one or two artists who will present a new work created especially for the fair.

#Opening

The Opening section, under the curatorship of Stefanie Hessler and Ilaria Gianni, will comprise a selection of 19 galleries put together with a plural geographic and generational perspective.
In addition to the General Program, the 3 sections : #the future, #dialogues and #opening, you will find Institutional projects and Arco Cultural spaces.

#Awards

6th Audemars Piguet Award: Artist Belén Uriel was the winner of the 2018 edition. Her work, En Dandanah, is a project presented by the Lisbon gallery Madragoa, and will be exhibited at the Audemars Piguet section of the Fair.

11th illy SustainArt Award: will acknowledge a work by an artist from a coffee-producing country. The jury, made up of curators Adriano Pedrosa and María Inés Rodríguez and illycaffè art director Carlo Bach, will award a prize of 15,000 euros to the winner.

2nd Cervezas Alhambra Award for Emerging Art: aimed at Spanish artists who must create a new work of art based on the spirit of the brand. The five finalists of this edition are: Marta Fernández Calvo, Gloria Martín, Carlos Monleón, Guillermo Mora and Kiko Pérez.

13th Beep Award for Electronic Art: will promote research and production of art linked to new technologies at ARCOmadrid 2018. The winner will be announced at the fair.

3rd Solán de Cabras Art Award: will acknowledge an artist present at ARCO for their work and career in the field of sustainability.

2nd ART Situacions Award ARCOmadrid 2018: €15,000 will go to one of the artists participating in the fair, with the aim of reaffirming the commitment to emerging Spanish art.

Catalina d’Anglade Prize: the designer will award a prize to an artist at the fair for the production of an object of art.

Other Prizes
The new Han Nefkens Foundation ARCO Prize will be awarded to the production of a video by a Peruvian artist which will be shown in Madrid and Lima in 2019.

The company Clorofila Digital will produce an artist-designed wallpaper for the ARCOlunch area to support artists in the production area. Curated by Iván López Munuera.

What’s more, on an institutional level, the Community of Madrid will award the 15th ARCO/Comunidad de Madrid Award for Young Artists, which acknowledges the work, creativity and talent of artists under 40.
